Photo by See-Tennessee.com The Obion County Courthouse in Union City.   Obion County boasts a history rich with colorful stories and unique characters, including the legendary Davy Crockett, who claimed to have killed more than 100 bears in one year here. Historic Reelfoot Lake, which was formed by a series of earthquakes in 1811-12, is located on the county's western border. In the heart of Union City, the county seat, there is the renovated Capitol Theatre, Kiwanis Park, the Obion County Museum and the Church Street Railroad Depot. Railroads played a major role in the county's history, dating back to the 1850s. From the early 1900s until after World War II, passenger trains regularly passed through the county. Source: Obion Co.
