KODAK, Tenn. -- The 2008 Volunteer Jam Tour featuring the Charlie Daniels Band includes a July 18 stop at Smokies Park.
This year's tour includes .38 Special and Shooter Jennings.
The Volunteer Jam started in 1974 when Daniels wanted to record Fire On The Mountain in front of a live audience. The War Memorial Auditorium in downtown Nashville set the stage as Daniels' friends joined in on a "jam" that year. |

Going into his 50th year in the Music Industry, Charlie Daniels has scored hits on the rock, country, pop and Christian charts and counts awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM), TNN/Music City News Awards, and the Gospel Music Association (GMA) among his many accolades.
His signature song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," topped both country and pop charts, bringing him international acclaim.
Daniels' current Blue Hat/Koch Records CD release, Deuces, is his first duet album and includes guest artists Travis Tritt, Bonnie Bramlett, Gretchen Wilson, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Brenda Lee, Brooks & Dunn, Marty Stuart, and Brad Paisley.
After more than two decades together, .38 Special is still playing more than 100 shows per year. And at every one of them, thousands of audience members are completely blindsided by the power and muscle of the band's performance.
Singer/songwriter Shooter Jennings is working hard to prepare the new material for what looks to be his busiest tour schedule in career history, while making time for recent television appearances on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
